Paulie Mack’s 2020 Fantasy Sleepers

Daniel Jones – Giants

Jones threw for 24 TD’s 12 INT’s and 3,027 yards last year. What makes those numbers impressive not only for a rookie, but he did it with Saquon Barkley, Evan Engram, Sterling Shepard, and Golden Tate missing a combined 23 games.  I see Jones having a breakout season this year and being in the top 5 in fantasy production for QBs.

Drew Lock – Broncos

Lock started the last 5 games of the season and finished with a 4-1 record.   Finishing with 7 TD’s 3 INT’s and 1020 yards in 5 games in not a bad start for a rookie QB.  New weapons added to the Bronco’s offense are former Charger RB M Gordan, 1st rd. pick WR Jerry Jeudy from Alabama,, 2nd round pick WR K. J. Hamler  from Penn State,, as well as 4th round TE Albert Okwuegbunam from Missouri.  Lock defiantly has the weapons to take the Broncos offense and his fantasy value to the next level.

D’ Andre Swift – Lions

Running back is one of the few positions where rookies can make an immediate impact on a team.  The uber talented Swift is just the back to step into the Lions starting line-up day one.    Swift a also an excellent receiver as well averaging over 9 yds a reception each of his years at Georgia.  Swift is a danger to take it to the house anytime he has the ball in his hands.

Joshua Kelly – Chargers

The 4th round pick out of UCLA will surprise a lot of people this year.  Kelley has the power to run through defenders, he also has good change-of-direction, excellent vision, and durability to carry a large workload (225 & 229 touches last 2 years).  Look for Kelley to get plenty of opportunity to score as the goal line back.  While Kelley might not have a big roll to start the season, this workhorse will seize the majority of the snaps as the season moves forward.

CeeDee Lamb – Cowboys

The best way to describe Cee Dee Lamb is a “playmaker”.  I know that might offend Cowboys fans who think there is only one “Playmaker” (Michael Irvin).  The truth is put on any Sooner game and you will see explosive play after explosive play from Lamb.  How explosive you ask? 14 TD’s & a 21.4 yd average last year.  Look for the Cowboys to find ways to get Lamb the ball often.

J.J. Arcega-Whiteside – Eagles

After a disappointing rookie season look for Whiteside to rebound in a big way.  Last year he had to fight through injuries and learning all 3 WR positions.  With Marquise Goodwin opting out and Alshon Jeffery starting the year on the PUP list,  J.J. and Deshawn Jackon are the main weapons at receiver.  Since you can count on D Jackson getting hurt every year look for J.J. to become Wentz’s favorite target this year, especially in the red zone.

Jonnu Smith – Titans

2020 is the breakout season for Jonnu Smith.  After finishing 2019 with 35 Reception 439yards  3 TDs, I can see Smith more than doubling those numbers in 2020.  Gone are Delanie Walker and his 30 targets from last season.   Look for Smith to become a favorite target for Tannehill this season.

Hayden Hurst – ATL

Austin Hooper leaves the Falcons for the Browns in free agency and the Falcons quickly trade for former first round pick of the Ravens Hayden Hurst.  I believe Hurst will excel in Dirk Koetter offense that has a heavy TE focus.  Do not sleep on Hurst this season, I believe he can be had in the late rounds and deliver BIG returns!
